The Club and the Course

The Jack Nicklaus Signature course was renovated in 2024 and offers 7,000 yards of play with seven sets of tees.

The design history runs deeper than the current course. Robert Trent Jones Sr drew the original, which opened in 1960 with Sam Snead as the first golf professional, and the Nicklaus rebuild followed on that ground rather than beside it.

Arvida's First Plan

Arvida broke ground here in March 1959 across roughly 450 acres, creating Boca Raton's first planned community and drawing lots larger than anything the city had platted before.

Owners have combined lots over the years, so about 650 houses stand today on some 690 residential lots, 229 of which are waterfront. The lots run from about a fifth of an acre to well over two, with the middle of the range close to a third, because owners have combined parcels and rebuilt across the decades. A good number of the houses have been taken down and replaced from the ground up, so two addresses on the same street can be sixty years apart.

Where It Sits

The community is bounded by the Intracoastal Waterway, the Hillsboro River and Federal Highway, which is what keeps it a single piece of ground rather than a set of streets running into other neighborhoods. Inside those boundaries the marina joins the houses to the fairways and the dining rooms without turning any one of them into an isolated precinct.

Mizner Park and downtown Boca are a little over two miles north, and the beach just under two miles east, so the address is close to the middle of the city rather than out beyond it. Town Center is about seven miles west.

Three questions decide everything here. Whether you want water, fairway or interior, since those are three separate markets inside one gate. Whether the house is a keeper or a lot, because a good number here have been rebuilt from the ground up. And what the water actually allows for the boat you have in mind.
